Ocean Lakes: A Family Campground Community at Myrtle Beach!
Ocean Lakes is a gated community that is located east of Business 17 in Myrtle Beach. It is distinct in that it is the only community in the area offering so many amenities to its visitors, including:
- Recreation Center:
A 17,000 square foot hub for Ocean Lakes activities. Be sure to pick up an Activities Calendar and check out the Myrtle Beach brochure racks for discounts and coupons on local activities. While you’re there you can also purchase discounted tickets to some of the Grand Strand’s best attractions.
- Sandy Harbor Games:
A favorite place for the kids to enjoy! They'll have a blast at the Arcade which features more than 84 excellent games! Ask about the "Video Game Challenge" this summer! Play some great games like: Daytona USA, The Rush Rock, Star Wars, Top Skater, Cyclone, and Claim Jumper. Remember to collect your point tickets for great prizes! In addition to arcade games, they have some favorites such as Skee Ball, Wheel'm In, Wacky Gator, Super Shot and Sandy Harbor. The Ocean Lakes' Arcade is located beside the Golf Car Rental Building. Games Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 3 PM - 9 PM, Saturday - Sunday 9 AM - 9 PM, and Off-Season As posted.
- Camptown Store: Ocean Lakes Camptown Store is located in the heart of the campground. It features 10,000 square feet of groceries, gifts, souvenirs, swimwear and hardware. Plus, all your fishing tackle supplies including salt-water and fresh-water fishing bait for use in the ocean or one of our lakes.
- Nature Center: A 'one of a kind' facility in this area, the Ocean Lakes Nature Center focuses on marine life. Leonard Raker, Curator, travels extensively during our off-season gathering items for exhibit. The Nature Center offers exhibits and information on shells, fossils, sea life, wildlife and ecology of coastal South Carolina. Their knowledgeable staff is on hand to identify items discovered on our nearly one mile of the Atlantic Ocean beach and answer any questions you may have. They also know where all the good "shell" spots are located along the Grand Strand. Join them on a beach walk or for an educational program. It will be enjoyed by the entire family! The Nature Center offers a series of video presentations including a variety of topics dealing with ocean life. All ages are welcome. Hours of Operation: April-May: Mon, Tues, Weds, Sat. 10 am - 3 pm, Open March 1st - October - Hours change in September and October.
- Fishing: Ocean Lakes Family Campground features eight freshwater lakes and nearly one mile of oceanfront - perfect for just about any kind of fishing! Our lakes our stocked with catfish, bass, brim and carp. Because Ocean Lakes is private property you will not need a fishing license. Fishing is a favorite activity for many Ocean Lakes' camping families. The kids will have a blast! Bait and tackle is available in the Camptown Store.
- Swimming Pools: For a more "controlled" water environment, Ocean Lakes provides an outdoor Olympic-sized pool, an all-seasons pool, and two kiddie pools, complete with lifeguards in season. Kids can enjoy the new Sandy Harbor Water Park and Splash Zone. The pool area and sun decks are part of the Sandy Harbor Family Fun Center next to the Ocean Lakes Recreation Center. The Sandy Harbor Cafe is also close by to keep you sustained with an arctic ice tea, cold soda, or even a delicious ice cream - an Ocean Lakes favorite!
